I’ve played “Pale Blue Dot” live occasionally when I’ve done solo acoustic sets. I generally say something to the effect of “If the whole world could gather around a single campfire and I could play one song, this is the one I would play.” The song remembers a time before humans created so many artificial divisions between one another. It imagines a purer, more honest time when we knew that we all were beautiful, and that there are far more ways that we are alike than ways the we are different. The title is inspired by the famous monologue and book by Carl Sagan.
If I were to die tomorrow, I would regret having not put this song out into the world. So here it is…
This one’s called “Pale Blue Dot.”
