For me, the pandemic came at a strangely coincidental time. My dad passed away in December, then my mom at the end of February. The day after I was told she had passed away, the national emergency was announced in the United States and the lockdowns began. The isolation of quarantine gave me a “cocoon” of sorts. My metamorphosis is ongoing. I guess life is like that in general for us all, but Covid’s timing was bizarrely ironic for me at a personal, spiritual level.
This moth design represents that concept of change through pain. It is based on the Hyalophora Cecropia moth which can be found in several counties in my home state of Indiana.
Another unique irony worth mentioning here is that a few months after created this moth design, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer (which thankfully I have recovered from). The thyroid is often referred to as a “moth-shaped” or “butterfly shaped” organ in your throat. I think the irony was timely and bizarre.
